Each year VCEE honors those educators who are deemed outstanding in their ability to infuse economic and financial literacy concepts into their classroom curriculum. A luncheon honoring these Economic Educators from around the state was held Friday, December 4, 2009 at The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
Outstanding Economics Lesson Plan
This award recognizes teachers who create an outstanding original single lesson plan that increases economic understanding. The lesson is short in duration, typically taking three days or less to complete.
Outstanding Economics Unit/Project Plan
This award recognizes teachers who create an outstanding original unit or project that increases economic understanding. The unit or project may take place over an entire semester or grading period and typically consists of several lessons and a culminating activity.
Outstanding Economic Educator Awards
Centers for Economic Education recognize one individual who has particularly advanced their students' understanding of economics over the course of their teaching career. Considerations for this award include leadership, professional development, evidence of student comprehension, and student performance. From these individuals, one person is chosen as the Virginia Outstanding Economic Educator of the Year. Congratulations to Vincent Reese from Osbourn Park High School in Prince William County.
