Fall and Spring Stock Market Game™

For each competition, teams are placed in regions based on the location of VCEE’s affiliated university-based Centers. Elementary, middle and high school teams compete in the same region.

Two rankings are posted weekly on the SMG website (Region and Coordinator) based on value of the portfolio.  The Coordinator ranking is the state ranking of the top 100 teams.

Fall Game
September 24, 2018 
— Fall SMG trading begins
October 5, 2018
 — Registration for Fall game closes. Invoices will be mailed by October 12, 2018.
October 19, 2018
 — Last day to add or delete Fall teams (after this date, advisors are responsible for fees for all registered teams, whether they trade or not). Revised invoices will be emailed to advisor as needed.
October 31, 2018 — All Fall teams must trade by this date in order to be eligible for end-of-competition awards
November 30, 2018 — All team fees must be paid by this date in order for teams to be eligible for end-of-competition awards. No exceptions.
December 14, 2018 — end of Fall SMG competition

Spring Game
February 4, 2019 — Spring SMG trading begins
February 15, 2019 — Registration for Spring game closes. Invoices will be mailed by February 22, 2019.
February 27, 2019 — Last day to add or delete Spring teams (after this date, advisors are responsible for fees for all registered teams, whether they trade or not). Revised invoices will be emailed to advisor as needed.
March 15, 2019 — All Spring teams must trade by this date in order to be eligible for end-of-competition awards
April 5, 2019 — All team fees must be paid by this date in order for teams to be eligible for end-of-competition awards. No exceptions.
April 19, 2019
 — Spring SMG competition ends (Students may continue to invest until June 7, 2019). Award winners will be determined by updated portfolio values at close of business on April 19.

Awards:

Region:  Awards are determined and awarded by VCEE affiliated Centers.
Coordinator (state):  Top three teams in the state ranking for each semester are recognized at the SMG Awards luncheon in May.

Year-Long Stock Market  Game™

Year Game

November 9, 2018
 — Last day to add or delete Year teams (after this date, advisors are responsible for fees for all registered teams, whether they trade or not). Revised invoices will be emailed to advisor as needed.
December 14, 2018 — All Year teams must trade by this date in order to be eligible for end-of-competition awards
January 18, 2019 — All team fees must be paid by this date in order for teams to be eligible for end-of-competition awards. No exceptions.

Region:  First Place team is recognized by VCEE affiliated Centers.
Coordinator (state):  First Place team is recognized at the SMG Awards luncheon in May.

InvestWrite

State – First Place essay winners in Virginia for each division (Elementary, Middle, and High School) are recognized. Both the student and the teacher are invited to the SMG Awards luncheon in May.
National – the top 10 essays in each division are recognized nationally.
