If people dislike pollution, why do they pollute anyway? How do human choices affect Virginia’s environmental resources? How can we protect the environment without hurting vulnerable people?
Environmental issues are often perplexing. The good news is that economic thinking – focusing as it does on human decision-making – can provide insight into how to think better about the environment.
This institute will be at Maymont, in partnership with its premier environmental education team. Teachers will get access to a collection of lessons that are aligned with both economics and science standards, and which give insight into human decision-making processes that affect the environment.
The price is free! Attendees get up to 18 contact hours for purposes of recertification. Parking, breakfast, snacks, and lunch are provided each day. The institute also provides several mini-field-trips on the beautiful Maymont grounds. Teachers also get lots of lesson plans and online resources to help bring learning to life both inside and outside the classroom.
Fee: NO CHARGE
Additional Information:
The exact building in Maymont in which we will be meeting is still being planned. We will communicate with you closer to the date about where exactly to go at Maymont on June 21.
