Below are the titles for the 3 sessions I conducted at the Longwood Summer Literacy Institute. [July 13-14]
The first two featured strong economic content.
The third was more focused on current events and social commentary, even though I did share a lesson on decision-making.
It was easy to figure out how many attended the RMC session as I had them vote on the rankings of their favorite titles.
I had a screen shot of the voting posters.
The “Titanic” session was easy also.
I had run off 25 handouts and had given them all out, even my master copy.
The third session is from memory. We conducted a ranking activity and I had 10 cards. After the cards were handed out, there were only three teachers left to be commentators.
Reading Makes Cents: Ten Years in and Counting – 15 attendees
The Power of Story: The Titanic, the Great Depression, and Pandemics -26 attendees
Dreamers and Wishers: Children’s Books Featuring the Immigrant Experience- 13 attendees
