The Stock Market Game™ (SMG) online investing simulation is an educational tool that equips students with the knowledge and skills they will need to live prosperous lives as adult citizens in a market economy. Highly motivational, the SMG creates an authentic learning experience in which students manage a virtual portfolio of real-time stocks and bonds in a way that develops real-world understanding in math, English/language arts, business, personal finance, economics, and other social studies subjects.
Teachers need NOT have any background knowledge in the stock market to afford their students an opportunity to participate in the SMG, as this professional development program will provide enough basic information for teachers to successfully implement the SMG in their classrooms. Additionally, teachers who participate in the SMG will gain access to a comprehensive online Teacher Support Center which contains a searchable library of classroom-ready lessons complete with “Teacher Background” knowledge, curriculum resources, learning standards correlations, and assessments. A local and state SMG Coordinator are also on standby to offer additional support.
Fee: NO CHARGE

This professional development program will be held at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia in Computer Lab 247.
