Have you ever wondered how to connect the economics content you teach to the real world in which your students live and work? This quick-hit webinar is for you!
In this webinar, you will have the opportunity to hear from not only Dr. Rik Chakraborti from Christopher Newport University, but also Dr. Jason F. Shogren, a distinguished professor of economics at the University of Wyoming and a world-renowned expert on environmental economics, risk analysis, behavioral economics, and public policy. Dr. Shogren has worked on several high-profile projects, such as the Kyoto Protocol and the U.S. Endangered Species Act, and has been recognized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for his contributions to their 2007 Nobel Peace Prize winning reports. Dr. Shogren is also a prolific musician, and how he balances his time between his work as a professional economist and Dr. Shogren will share his insights and experiences on what economists do, how they think, and how they apply their knowledge and skills to various real-world issues and challenges. He will also answer your questions and provide you with some useful resources and tips for teaching economics effectively and engagingly to your students.
You will leave with tools necessary to guide students who are interested in the field, and to confidently connect the economics standards you teach to the daily application of these skills in “the real world.”
