I am happy to invite you to be a virtual presenter at our online PD on inquiry on Feb 4th. Social studies teachers are engaging in an event that includes 3 rounds of 25 minute webinars. Are you or a colleague available/willing to be a presenter that day? If so, I am happy to set up a call or discuss by email and flesh this out more.
Logistically, I will provide a webinar link and directions on how to use BB Collaborate. It would be 3, 25 minute presentations that have the following:

- Essential Question
- Description 3 -4 sentences
- 2-3 Outcomes

Title: Teaching Controversial Issues in Economics
Essential Question: What methods can be used to afford students the opportunity to investigate and analyze controversial issues in economics while maintaining a safe learning environment?
Description: In light of the current political environment and the humanitarian issues that face our world, students more than ever need tools to process current economic events. In this session, strategies will be presented to assist educators in curating these conversations in a manner that is productive and safe for all learners.
Outcomes: Teachers will leave equipped with access to tools available to use in their classroom to be used to assist students in developing logical arguments in a manner that encourages students to cite evidence when drawing conclusions regarding the impact of a controversial topic has on the economy. Teachers will also participate in a simulated activity in order to evaluate how these methods can be translated into the secondary classroom.
Target Audience: 9 – 12 Social Studies/Economics Educators
