More information:

The ODU Center for Economic Education has received a grant to pay for Stock Market Game teams for students attending Norfolk Public Schools.   Attend this workshop to receive fun, active lessons that use buying and selling stocks to teach the Econ SOLs.   You will also learn about how to play the SMG in your classroom.   You must attend this training to qualify for the free teams.

Teams of students are given a hypothetical $100,000 to buy and sell stocks on the NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange.  Students learn to develop team strategies, make decisions, and become informed about investment and economic terms. They also learn to see the connection between world events and their impact on the economy.

This workshop will give you the tools to teach the Economics standards of scarcity, supply and demand, decision-making, opportunity cost, trade-offs, competition, the role of government in a market economy, characteristics of a market economy, types of business organizations, and fiscal responsibility – all through the excitement of the Stock Market Game.

This session is exclusively for Norfolk Public School teachers and has been generously funded by Atlantic Union Bank and Trust.
